Our client, a specialist strategic communications firm for scaling tech businesses, is looking to hire a Head of North America to lead and expand its presence in the region. With a strong foundation in the UK, the agency is looking for a highly entrepreneurial candidate with strong experience in Tech comms and PR to lead its established North American practice with a focus on driving growth and expansion in the region. Focused on supporting disruptive B2B and B2C technology companies, the agency partners with clients to enhance their reputations and navigate complex communications challenges across the US and Europe.

This role, based in Austin, Texas, offers a unique opportunity to shape the agency’s future in North America. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and self-starter, comfortable working autonomously while leveraging the support of a collaborative global team.

Role

  • Drive the growth and expansion of the agency’s North American presence, identifying new business opportunities and developing client relationships
  • Lead strategic communications initiatives for clients, including media relations, reputation management, crisis communications, and thought leadership
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy, including pitching and securing new clients in the B2B and B2C technology sectors
  • Serve as a senior advisor to clients, providing high-level strategic counsel to founders, executives, and investors on complex communications challenges
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, recruiting, mentoring, and managing talent to establish a strong North American practice
  • Strengthen and expand relationships with key media and industry influencers, securing impactful press coverage and thought leadership opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with the UK-based leadership team to align on business objectives and ensure seamless integration between global teams
  • Oversee client accounts and project delivery, ensuring top-quality execution and measurable results
  • Represent the agency at industry events and networking opportunities, positioning the firm as a leader in the North American market
  • Contribute to agency-wide strategy and innovation, bringing fresh ideas and approaches to drive success in a competitive market

Requirements

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a growth-driven approach: Proven ability to build and scale a business unit, develop client relationships, and drive new business opportunities
  • Strategic communications expertise: Strong background in PR, media relations, and reputation management, particularly in the B2B and B2C technology sectors
  • Leadership and team-building skills: Experience in hiring, managing, and mentoring teams, with the ability to cultivate a high-performance culture in a remote environment.
  • Deep understanding of the North American media and technology landscape: Strong network of press and industry contacts, with a track record of securing impactful media coverage
  • Client advisory experience: Comfortable working with senior executives, founders, and investors, providing strategic counsel on high-stakes communications challenges
  • Commercial acumen: Ability to identify growth opportunities, pitch new business, and contribute to the agency’s revenue expansion in North America
  • Autonomous and proactive work style: Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with the UK-based leadership team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Ability to craft compelling messaging, thought leadership content, and media strategies
