Head of Communications

Our client, a revolutionary European Energy startup specialising in fusion energy technology, is looking to hire its first Head of Comms following another significant round of funding. The business, founded by some of the leading minds in fusion energy, is rapidly scaling to finally deliver on the promise of a carbon-free, safe and effectively limitless source of energy.
The Head of Communications will oversee the strategic planning and implementation of all communication and marketing initiatives. This position requires a holistic approach to strengthening the brand, shaping public perception, and clearly conveying the company’s innovative technology to different stakeholders. The successful candidate will work hand in glove with public policy and government relations teams, as well as assist the CEO with top level comms. Native/ fluent German speakers would be a huge plus!
Role
Strategic Communications:
- Develop and implement communication strategies that highlight the company’s mission, vision, and technological prowess.
- Create and distribute key messages across multiple platforms to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, and key stakeholders to secure positive coverage and shape public perception.
- Manage crisis communications and devise proactive strategies to address potential public relations issues.
- Lead the production of high-quality content, including press releases, blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, and presentations.
- Ensure all content is scientifically accurate, engaging, and accessible to a wide range of audiences.
Marketing Leadership:
- Design and implement marketing campaigns aimed at increasing brand awareness and engaging target audiences, including potential customers, partners, and the general public.
- Oversee digital marketing efforts, such as social media, content marketing, SEO, and online advertising, in collaboration with a dedicated digital communications team member.
Collaboration with Public Policy & Government Relations:
- Work closely with public policy and government relations teams to align communication strategies with regulatory and legislative priorities.
- Develop communication materials to support policy advocacy and government outreach efforts.
Event Management:
- Plan and execute events such as press conferences, industry conferences, product launches, and investor meetings.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and public forums.
Requirements
- Strong senior communications experience in creating and scaling a world-class brand, preferably in the technology or energy sectors.
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership abilities, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for simplifying complex technical information.
- Experience in media relations, public relations, and crisis communication.
- Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques, including social media management and content marketing.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with the German language is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A passion for clean energy and a dedication to the company’s mission.
