Our client, a specialist strategic communications firm focused on the asset management industry, is looking to hire an Associate Vice President to join its growing team in New York. With a strong presence in both the US and Europe, the firm partners with top-tier investment managers to enhance their brand, reputation, and media presence.
This role offers a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role within a dynamic and collaborative team, working closely with global financial clients to navigate complex communications challenges. The successful candidate will be a proactive and strategic thinker, comfortable leading client relationships while contributing to the firm’s continued growth in North America and working closely with international colleagues.
Role
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic advice and ensuring that all communications align with their objectives and industry best practices
- Anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop solutions, positioning the firm as a trusted strategic partner
- Retain and grow existing accounts by identifying opportunities for additional services, strengthening client relationships, and consistently exceeding expectations
- Lead new business efforts by identifying potential clients, delivering compelling pitches, and converting opportunities into revenue-generating engagements
- Supervise and mentor a team ranging from Interns to Account Directors, ensuring high-quality deliverables, clear communication, and adherence to deadlines
- Oversee financial aspects of client accounts, monitoring billability, ensuring profitability, and keeping budgets on track
- Maintain deep knowledge of the financial services sector, including emerging trends, regulatory changes, and market movements that impact clients
- Develop and integrate digital strategies into client campaigns, leveraging SEO, LinkedIn campaigns, Google Ads, PPC, and CRM tools like HubSpot
- Provide first-stage crisis management support, identifying risks early and working with senior leadership to develop appropriate responses
- Coordinate with global teams, including offices in the UK and design/digital departments, to ensure seamless execution of multi-channel campaigns
Requirements
- Strong experience in financial PR and communications, particularly within asset management
- Proven ability to lead client relationships, offering strategic advice and managing expectations
- Demonstrated success in business development, including pitching and converting new clients
- Expertise in digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, LinkedIn campaigns, and CRM tools like HubSpot
- Skilled in team leadership and mentoring, with a track record of managing and developing junior staff
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently
- In-depth knowledge of economic and financial industry trends relevant to investment managers
