Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing strategic communications firm, is looking for an established Director to join their team in New York. Specialising in reputation management and insight led strategic communications, the firm partners with top-tier clients across the Start-Up/Scale-Up Technology and Venture Capital landscape, as well as servicing household name brands to navigate complex comms challenges and shape impactful narratives.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the firm's New York office, a fast-paced, collaborative environment, crafting innovative strategies that drive real-world results on a global scale.
Role
- Set clear goals and priorities for teams, ensuring accountability at all levels while promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships, providing strategic counsel that drives meaningful impact
- Take ownership of influencing client direction through thoughtful advice, rooted in insight and experience
- Share expertise in a way that enables others to replicate success, encouraging team-wide growth and learning
- Coach and develop individuals both within direct teams and across the business, helping them stretch into new opportunities
- Lead by example in delivering high-quality, insight-driven work, consistently grounded in data and research
- Seek out new tools, technologies, and ways of working to improve the quality, efficiency, and creativity of our output
- Look beyond immediate client work to identify new business opportunities and contribute to the firm's broader growth
- Build and maintain a strong external network — including media, policy experts, and other advisers — to strengthen the firm’s perspective and reach
- Champion a collaborative and inclusive culture by giving regular feedback, supporting wellbeing, and actively involving others in the work
Requirements
- Proven experience in corporate communications, with expertise in both consultancy and in-house roles, preferably within the technology sector
- Strong ability to adopt a strategic approach to reputation management, supported by research, data, and insights
- Proven experience in connecting with a variety of audiences and utilizing different communication platforms
- Skilled in establishing advisory relationships with senior stakeholders, offering strategic guidance and insights, often on tight deadlines
- Experience in crafting media strategies and managing relationships with top-tier reporters
- Expertise in driving new business discussions, including overseeing the RFP process
- Entrepreneurial mindset focused on building and sustaining professional relationships, expanding networks, and generating new business opportunities
- Extensive experience leading diverse, high-performing teams with varied backgrounds and expertise
- Willing to take a proactive, hands-on approach within client teams and across the organization
- Committed to continuous growth, expanding skills and knowledge, and actively seeking feedback from colleagues
- Dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive culture within the team and organization
