Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing strategic communications firm, is looking for an established Associate Director to join their team in New York. Specialising in reputation management and insight led strategic communications, the firm partners with top-tier clients across the Start-Up/Scale-Up Technology and Venture Capital landscape, as well as servicing household name brands to navigate complex comms challenges and shape impactful narratives. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the firm's New York office, a fast-paced, collaborative environment, crafting innovative strategies that drive real-world results on a global scale.

Role

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define clear goals and priorities, holding yourself and others accountable for results.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients to provide strategic, high-impact advice and support.
  • Take ownership of the strategic direction and decision-making for client work.
  • Share knowledge and experience to enable team members to replicate success and grow.
  • Draw on the full expertise and resources of the firm to deliver reputation-enhancing advice.
  • Coach and mentor individuals to help them identify development opportunities and achieve their goals.
  • Lead by example in managing and delivering exceptional work grounded in research, data, and insight.
  • Seek out external expertise—from media, policy, academia, and more—to enrich our analysis and recommendations.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements that enhance the quality and efficiency of our work.
  • Spot opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth across the business.
  • Drive business development by converting new opportunities and expanding existing client relationships.
  • Build and maintain a strong external network to support impactful outcomes and attract new clients.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, supportive workplace through active feedback, allyship, and a focus on wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Proven corporate communications experience in both agency and in-house settings, with a strong focus on technology and investor relations.
  • Proven ability to shape strategic reputation-building initiatives grounded in research, data, and insight.
  • Skilled at engaging diverse audiences across a range of channels in the evolving communications landscape.
  • Trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing clear, strategic counsel—often under tight timeframes.
  • Experienced in crafting adaptable media strategies that respond to a shifting media environment.
  • Able to build and maintain a strong media network, adding value across multiple clients and teams.
  • Strong leadership experience, managing high-performing teams with a range of backgrounds and expertise.
  • Willing and proactive in taking a hands-on role in client delivery and internal initiatives.
  • Committed to continuous learning, actively seeking feedback and developing new skills and subject matter expertise.
