Our client, a leading global strategic communications agency, is seeking an Associate Director to join their Public Affairs team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to advise listed companies, global corporates, institutional investors, and business leaders on navigating the evolving policy and regulatory landscape.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in public affairs, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong track record of working at the intersection of business, government, and financial markets. They will play a key role in shaping corporate strategies, advising on regulatory developments, and helping clients engage effectively with policymakers, investors, and wider stakeholders.
Role
- Lead public affairs strategies, advising clients on how to engage with policymakers, regulators, and key industry stakeholders.
- Monitor, analyse, and interpret regulatory and policy developments at international, regional, and local levels, assessing their impact on corporate strategy and investor engagement.
- Provide counsel on corporate governance, ESG policies, and shareholder activism, ensuring clients anticipate and respond effectively to emerging risks.
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans, building strong relationships with policymakers, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies.
- Support corporate clients during shareholder meetings, proxy seasons, and governance roadshows, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Draft policy briefings, position papers, and corporate statements to articulate client positions on key public policy and governance issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including investor relations, corporate communications, and governance specialists, to deliver integrated advisory services.
- Lead and contribute to thought leadership initiatives, shaping industry discourse on corporate governance, regulatory affairs, and market trends.
- Support business development efforts, identifying new client opportunities and contributing to proposals and pitches.
Requirements
- Proven experience in public affairs or policy advisory.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, and financial markets.
- Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and advise senior corporate leaders.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with experience liaising with policymakers, regulators, and industry bodies.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret policy and regulatory changes and translate them into strategic advice.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with experience drafting policy briefings, position papers, and regulatory submissions.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts and projects, ensuring high-quality delivery under tight deadlines.
