Head of Marketing and Communications

Our client, a truly global financial services player in the alternative investments industry with a presence in over 15 geographies, is looking for an experienced, versatile and creative Head of Marketing and Communications to lead the global function from ideation to execution of all external and internal marketing and communication strategies and campaigns. 

Based in the London office but with a direct or dotted line to team members globally, the successful candidate will head up a large, diverse and multi-disciplinary team with a tangible and immediate opportunity to make a significant impact on one of the global leaders in their industry.

Role

  • Strategy & Leadership 
      • Proven track record building, executing, delivering and evaluating commercially aligned yet creative PR, Communications and Marketing outputs to both internal and external audiences 
      • Demonstrable experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative, supportive and cohesive fashion 
  • Senior Advisory
      • Proven track record of providing crisis communications advice to brands, covering both external and internal perspectives, whether proactive or reactive, and ideally on technical, complex and/or legal topics
      • Experience offering guidance on product and service launches, including competitor analysis and product differentiation
      • Demonstrated experience in offering strategic advice to global businesses at the leadership and executive level
      • Ability to provide concrete examples of global campaigns managed from inception to successful completion
  • Branding
      • Evidence of successfully managing branding projects from start to finish
      • Strong interest in partnering with customer experience (CX) teams, providing concrete guidance when required
  • Content Marketing
      • Proven experience in crafting corporate storytelling and narratives, with examples of creative campaigns promoting distinct products and services with media-friendly angles and measurable results
      • For external communications, the team covers multiple products and services lines so the successful candidate must be confident juggling multiple priorities sometimes conflicting, and have the ability to quickly grasp and advise on complex topics, services and technologies
      • Must possess strong content generation, editing, and writing skills, with hands-on experience managing and crafting creative campaigns from inception
      • Ability to understand, articulate, and develop market trends and themes
      • Experience in handling both internal and external campaigns, from International Women’s Day celebrations to the release of regular alternative asset performance metrics
  • Digital Marketing
      • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven insights and feedback loops
      • Comprehensive knowledge of online demand generation, buyer journeys, and funnel management, with a track record of delivering campaigns in a dynamic setting
  • Reporting
      • Proven experience in making decisions based on marketing campaign data and analytics
      • Skilled in compiling metrics from Google Analytics, social media, media, and downloads, with the ability to track ROI for specific campaigns

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in communications, marketing, and content, whether gained in agencies, in-house roles, or a combination 
  • Direct experience of the financial services industry a must, knowledge of the alternative investments space a distinct plus 
  • Creative and solutions oriented mindset but commercially astute 
  • Proven experience managing large and decentralised teams
  • Comprehensive experience in managing events, social media, media, content creation/thought leadership, and advertising
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a budget effectively and maintain financial accuracy
  • Ability to work with a diverse and decentralised group of stakeholders with varying levels of understanding
  • Ability to influence leadership and shape commercial decisions
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience working across diverse cultures, financial specialties, and jurisdictions
  • Based in London but able to travel at times
