Our client, an independent global advisory firm, is looking for an ambitious Communications Consultant to join their growing team in London. Our client sits at the intersection of strategic communications and advisory and they boast some of the most exciting clients across the Technology, VC and Innovation sector.

Role

  • Reputation Strategy - Leveraging extensive knowledge of channels and audiences to determine the optimal way to position clients and narrate their stories.
    • Utilise channel and audience knowledge to best position clients and tell their stories.
    • Collaborate with client team leads to set strategy and priorities.
    • Develop integrated communications plans for strategy execution.
    • Use strategies and tactics to meet client objectives and reach target audiences on suitable channels.
    • Create and analyse research briefs to ensure advice is insight-driven.
    • Adapt advice to meet individual client needs and expectations.
    • Provide creative solutions beyond the brief.
  • Advising - Gaining the trust of diverse clients and offering recommendations that are clear and well-received.
    • Advise in various formats (written or verbal) and select the most effective one for the client at the right time.
    • Create compelling written content and manage key communications events for clients (e.g., media briefings, speeches, owned channels, and events).
    • Stay updated on industry and client news to inform client advice.
    • Utilise deep knowledge of audiences and channels to best position clients and achieve communications goals.
  • People Management - Promote team wellbeing and encourage performance, learning, and development.
    • Develop project plans for client teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
    • Manage junior colleagues' work and support their professional development through coaching and mentoring.
    • Encourage continuous learning and development by delegating tasks and providing constructive feedback.
  • Contributing to the business - Utilising insights into firm and client revenue streams to enhance the quality of our advice and analysis.
    • Using knowledge of clients' commercial context to align our advice with their business objectives.
    • Understanding the firm's business operations, including team profitability, and contributing to internal projects.
    • Showing initiative in identifying growth opportunities for the business, such as new client assistance methods, team efficiency improvements, or internal knowledge sharing.
    • Leveraging personal interests or previous experience to support the business's growth, including potential new business ventures and team development opportunities.
  • Contributing to a collaborative and inclusive work environment
    • Engaging in regular feedback exchanges with colleagues at all levels within the firm.
    • Actively soliciting and incorporating input from others into work processes.
    • Demonstrating allyship with all colleagues.
    • Promoting the wellbeing of everyone on the team.

Requirements

  • Strong command of written and verbal English language skills.
  • Previous experience in corporate and strategic communications, either in consultancy or in-house roles.
  • Proven ability to strategically assess corporate reputation challenges and opportunities.
  • Understanding of diverse audiences and communication channels within the industry.
  • Track record of cultivating advisory relationships to provide strategic counsel and insights.
  • Experience in developing media strategies and engaging with journalists.
  • Proficiency in project management, including goal-setting, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Skilled in team management, with experience in delegation and collaboration.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and shares expertise with colleagues.
  • Highly motivated team player who values collaboration.
  • Commitment to seeking feedback for personal growth and development.
