Our client is one of the leading strategic communications, media relations and transaction advisory consultancies in North America. Headquartered in New York, the firm serves a global blue chip client base, supporting day to day communications and the highest stake scenarios including M&A and special situations, crisis and issues, proxy contests, and shareholder activism. 

We are currently supporting this top tier client as they seek to hire a dynamic, entrepreneurial and passionately curious comms professional at the AVP or VP level with, ideally, particular experience and interest in the financial services industry.

Role

  • Offering corporate and strategic communication assistance to diverse clientele, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate, venture capital, trading, and digital assets firms, as well as public and privately held corporations, and prominent individuals
  • Taking the lead in developing comprehensive corporate positioning strategies across traditional and social media platforms, as well as managing reputation management programs
  • Supervising the development of various written materials, encompassing press releases, letters, talking points, presentations, scripts, and Q&A sessions for internal and external audiences, spanning a spectrum of special circumstances like M&A, management changes, litigation, shareholder activism/proxy contests, restructurings, and other announcements
  • Providing ongoing assistance to senior team members to ensure timely fulfilment of deadlines and client expectations
  • Supervising junior account team members, leading by example, and providing guidance and feedback on tasks
  • Facilitating communication between clients, advisors, and the team as the main contact person
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with top-tier journalists from various publications, industries, and regions, including pitching stories, managing media inquiries, coordinating client interviews, and developing media lists

Requirements

  • Robust background and keen interest in media relations, investor relations, and/or corporate communications
  • Prior experience in corporate communications, financial services, legal, and/or asset management-related communications is desirable
  • Demonstrated exceptional organisational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to high-quality work, and adept time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficient in analytical thinking, with excellent written and verbal communication aptitude
  • Established connections with prominent global newspapers and trade press outlets are advantageous
  • Enthusiasm for thriving in a collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment characterised by enthusiasm and a proactive approach
  • Self-motivated and tenacious individual capable of maintaining composure while navigating high-pressure, complex situations under tight deadlines
